Pieces tells the story of two artists, Allison Turner (Tori Simpson, Shaken not Stirred) and Tom Maxis (Matt), an art couple who clash on their most recent collaboration. Allison is a contemporary photographer trying to get their work noticed, while Tom is a pretentious, avant-garde visual artist who wants the work to speak for itself. As tensions rise, public displays of outrage and sabotage tear the couple apart. The bigger issue, however, is that the couple is up for a joint fellowship at the Nashville Museum of Art.
The concept and storyline of the mocumentarty was developed by the Graduate Students at Watkins College for their Trans-Media class. The performances were completely improvised by Tori and Matt, and took place on location under the guise of a real documentary.
